Holding onto a measurement by Steven Durbach

Size (cm): 90 x 120
ink and acrylic on paper
Machine-assisted drawing. The pen-drawn area over the red table was recorded by my eccentric measuring device, called The Evolver which was performing a measurement outside the Queen Victoria Building in February this year. As an ex-scientist and artist working at the interfaith of art and science I am always interested in what our measurements mean and the why we measure what we measure. Here – in this self portrait – I am trying to hold onto this measurement as if it was something real.
