I am a Sydney based painter, working within the realist tradition.
My painting Lighter Thoughts offers a closely cropped and detailed perspective of familiar objects that straddle the threshold between realism and abstraction. Lighter Thoughts engages with visual motifs that have long fascinated me, serving as tropes to explore themes of memory, connection and absence. The tightly framed composition, choice of subject matter and monochromatic palette suggest a veiled intimacy that adds to the unsettled atmosphere of the image, drawing viewers into the narrative that is imbedded within its layers. It challenges us to consider how we store, protect and interpret memories.
