Gods Memento Mori by Haylie Atkins
29.7 x 42cm | screen
My work is intended to make the viewer look at each detail up close. Through the traditional form of silk screen printing, I have pushed the boundaries of fine line and a sharp contrast to create a semiotic pictorial frame.
Inspired by religious and Dutch iconography, as well as a strong influence from a set of idolised Tarot cards from my childhood. “Gods Memento mori” follows the fine line between life and death, using black and peach inks to draw the attention indefinite elevatable for every living vessel. The work also highlights symbolic conations of childhood memories, difficulties, and triumphs.
