Copland-Nielsen’s practice considers the representation of a fast eradicating landscape that is individual to suburban Australia. His representation of these suburban homes are formed via documenting post-war homes on the artists walk and transferring them to formats of print such as relief and intaglio. ‘Yield Curve’ observes traits of Yi-Fu Tuan’s coined term ‘topophilia’ which translates to a direct “love of place”. This work furthermore discusses how the disappearance of these places can form a great sense of displacement in a familiar landscape. In the collecting and archiving of these homes, he hopes to draw more attention to a certain aesthetic of local architecture.
