Wander Light: the Bridge of AEsir Burns by Gaye Chapman
$900.00
21 x 29.7cm | monotype, digital
The core of my practice is nature’s survival and transience – often explored through exotic/invasive plants and how human acts overwrite/rewrite visions, histories and memories of land. Wander Light is a digital monoprint of noxious Wild parsnip (Pastinaca sativa) + drawing and stamen/remnant prints of Arum lily (Zantedeschia aethiopica).
‘The Bridge of AEsir burns’: in Norse mythology, a burning rainbow bridge reaches between Earth and the realm of the gods (the AEsir). Humankind is burning that bridge down – our ancient interconnections with Earth’s dynamicsystems – the ‘gods’ of thunder, lightning, trees …‘Wander-Light’: Henry Lawson (1902) about belonging.
