“Valley” explores the landscape as a liminal space where memory, time, and transformation intersect. Beginning with archival glass photographic negatives and through a cross-cultural collaboration with embroidery artisans in India, fleeting visual moments are rendered as tactile, material expressions. Layers of natural pigment washes further transform the image; through acts of erasure and negation, specific fragments and identifiers become universal. In this way stitched line and pigment stain disrupt and reconfigure the surface, leaving traces of human intervention. Through this process, the landscape is remembered and reimagined—an evolving site shaped by time, memory, and environment. Merging the immediacy of photography with slow material transformation, the work inhabits a space between documentation and intervention, history and speculation. It reflects on the fragility and fluidity of landscapes, inviting contemplation of our presence within these shifting terrains.
