these works start as open and gestural but are conciously developed into a synthetic image. I am always looking for small things in the picture that I recognise but most often can’t name; these might be a gesture, a shape a mood or a moment. The synthetic conclusion I am looking for is a surface tautness and a certain openness that touches the viewer and prompts further looking.
