1. What do you do at WWAS?
I teach a Ceramics and pottery class on a Tuesday evening
2. Tell us about your artistic/career journey to this point.
I have a BA degree in Creative Arts from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa. I also completed an Advanced Diploma in Ceramics from TAFE where I won the state medal for Diploma of Ceramics in NSW. I have specialised in both teaching and creating ceramic sculpture with over 30 years experience in both. I have had numerous solo and group exhibitions and won various Ceramic Sculpture prizes.
3. What is your favourite thing about WWAS
The varied and enthusiastic students who attend my classes
4. If you could share a meal with three artists living or dead, who would they be?
Maria Martinez, Louise Bourgeois and Kiki Smith
What are you listening to?
Not my husband – So when he’s quiet, I like to listen the Ezra Klein New York Times Opinion show, The Makers Playbook and Conversations on the ABC
What is your proudest accomplishment?
Raising two children despite them knowing much more about everything than I do
What are you currently reading?
The Netanyahus by Joshua Cohen and Small things like these by Claire Keegan
Where is your favourite holiday destination?
Italy and the South African Game Reserves
What three items would you take with you on a deserted island?
My insulin because I’m a type 1 diabetic, my ceramic tools and my cosmetics and an outfit in case I decide I want to go out for the night
