1. Eligibility
The 9×5 Landscape Prize is open to all artists 16 years and over. WWAS staff, board members
and tutors are not eligible to enter.
2. 9×5 Landscape Prizes
First Prize: $1,500.
Second Prize: $750, sponsored by Waverley Council.
Most Highly Commended: Art materials provided by Derivan to the value of $200.
3. A Prize for Painting
Entries in the 9×5 Landscape Prize may be paintings in any medium, including oil, acrylic or
watercolour. The theme is open.
Entries open: 9.00am Monday 8 August 2022
Entries close: Midnight Friday 30 September 2022
4. Artwork Specifications
Works must be painted on the 9” x 5” plywood boards supplied by WWAS.
No other material will be accepted. Wet paintings will not be accepted and works must be
unframed.
5. How to Enter
Entering the 9×5 Landscape Prize is a two-step process:

will receive a code via email once you have registered. You will need this code to upload
images of your artwork. You need to register to receive your official 9×5 board

- Submit a digital image of each artwork before midnight, on Friday 30 September via
your online registration link. Upload one image per entry.

6. 9×5 Boards
Boards can be collected from WWAS at 138 Bondi Road, Bondi or they can be posted at a cost
of $9. Please allow sufficient time to receive the official 9×5 board and create your artwork
before the closing date. Boards will not be sent via mail after Friday 23 September.
7. Image format and submission
Each image must be submitted as a JPEG file, 300dpi and less than 2mb in file size.
Each image must be clearly labelled with the artist’s name and title of artwork.

8. Entry Fee
$35 per entry (including GST). Each entry includes one 9×5 board

9. Number of Entries
A maximum of three (3) entries per artist.
10. Judges
The judges for the 2022 9×5 Landscape Prize are artist Annabel Butler and gallerist Sam
Dickerson.
11. Process of Selection
The Judges will select the finalists for the exhibition from digital images of each artwork
entered. The winner will then be judged from the finalists selected. The judges’ decision is final
and no correspondence or dispute will be entered into by the judges.
12. Announcement of finalists
Works which have been selected as finalists will be announced online at:
wwas.org.au/9×5-landscape-prize/2022 on Thursday 10 November 2022. Finalists will also be
contacted via email.
13. Delivery of Finalists’ Artwork for Exhibition
Finalists’ original artworks must be delivered to Waverley Woollahra Art School no later than
12.00 midday Friday 2 December 2022.
If you wish your artwork to be returned to you by mail at the end of the exhibition, please
include a stamped, addressed envelope with your original artwork.
14. Sale of Artworks and commission
At the artist’s discretion, selected entries can be offered for sale. A 30% commission applies to
all artworks sold, with proceeds returned to the Waverley Woollahra Art School. The sale price
indicated on the entry form must remain fixed throughout the exhibition and should include
the commission, GST (if applicable) and any other commercial gallery or agents’ fees. If an
entry is not for sale, please mark it clearly with NFS on the back of the artwork and on the entry
form.
15. Reproduction of Images
Waverley Woollahra Art School reserves the right to use the digital images of artworks entered
in the 9×5 Landscape Prize, and photographs of artworks in the exhibition, for the purposes of
publicity, documentation and cataloguing in paper, digital and electronic format.
16. Privacy
Personal information collected will only be used for the purposes of the 9×5 Landscape Prize or
WWAS promotion and will be held by the administration staff of Waverley Woollahra Art
School.
17. Ownership
Entries must not be the property of a third party. If an artwork is being entered by a
commercial gallery or agent, the artist must give their permission.
18. Exhibition Period
Finalists’ entries must be displayed for the entire exhibition period from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm
Friday 9 December – Sunday 11 December 2022. Works must be collected no later than 12.00
midday on Wednesday 15th December. Works collected late will incur a late fee of $5 per day.
19. Insurance
Artists are responsible for insuring their artworks against theft and damage during transit and
throughout the exhibition. Waverley Woollahra Art School will take all reasonable care, but will
not be responsible or liable for any loss or damage.
