Annabel Butler holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Hons (Painting) from the National Art School and has won scholarships to study at the Byam Shaw School of Art, London and the New York Studio School.
She has been awarded artist residencies at the Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris, the Bundanon Studios, NSW, and the Vermont Studio Center, USA. Annabel has won the 9×5 Landscape Prize, the Glebe Open Art Prize (twice), and the Waverley Art Prize for Oil Painting. She has been a regular finalist in numerous other competitions, including the Portia Geach Memorial Award, the NSW Parliament Plein Air Painting Prize, the Hazelhurst Art on Paper Award, the Adelaide Perry Prize for Drawing, the Calleen Art Award and the Mosman and Paddington art prizes.
A practising artist for over 20 years, Annabel has exhibited widely in Australia and overseas and is represented by Stella Downer Fine Art, Sydney. Her work is held in the Chau Chak Wing Museum, University of Sydney, as well as corporate and private collections throughout Australia, the USA, UK and Europe.
Sam Dickerson has been the director of Dickerson Gallery on Queen Street in Woollahra for the past 30 years.
Sam has become an established figure in the local arts community and has been a judge of the WWAS 9×5 Landscape Prize twice since its inception seven years ago.
Dickerson Gallery Sydney represents a selected group of emerging Australian artists, collectable young and mid-career artists as well as notable senior Australian artists. This includes consultation on collections, valuations for insurance, sales advice and corporate collection consultation, working in with significant cultural institutions and exhibition programs.
