Experience the wonderful range of natural colours and botanical prints that we can achieve with plant matter!
This one-day class will give you a “taste” for the art of natural dyeing and printing, using materials such as onion skins, eucalyptus leaves, and dried barks and flowers.
Each participant will make a silk scarf, dyed and printed in their own design.
We will also use some watercolour papers pressed between tiles and steamed to achieve beautiful, unique printed papers.
When you sign up, we will send you a list of plants and flowers that you might have in your garden, so you can bring along some of your own materials for printing and sharing.
We will let you in on a few secrets of eco-textiles, such as how to achieve bright, long-lasting results.
You’ll be hooked! Your tutor, Samantha Tannous, is an exhibiting fibre artist who has been studying, experimenting and documenting eco-textile techniques for more than a decade. She knows how to get great results using a wide variety of materials and techniques. She is in demand as a tutor of fibre arts all over Australia.
All materials will be supplied (included in the cost).
This workshop runs from 29 March to 1 September, from 9:30am to 4:00pm daily.
