Kylie Melinda Smith has been working as a visual artist for 25 years. She studied painting at the Julian Ashton Art School on scholarship and continued her classical atelier painting studies at The Art Students League New York, where she was mentored by acclaimed American Artist, Pat Lipksy. Smith has a Bachelor of Fine Art from UNSW, majoring in both painting and photography, giving her an understanding and passion for light that influences both her painting and photographic styles.
Smith is a passionate arts educator and enjoys teaching both painting and photography. Smith has had solo exhibitions in Sydney and Los Angeles and has participated in group exhibitions in New York City, Hong Kong, Singapore and Sydney. In 2005 she was a finalist in The Archibald Photographic Prize. This year she is a finalist in the Portia Geach Memorial Award for her painting of dancer, Eileen Kramer.
