Jane Alexander

Untitled design (7)

Jane Alexander majored in Sculpture for her Bachelor of Fine Art at National Art School.  She works across a range of media including painting and won the prestigious Anne Pata Memorial Drawing Award (2020) and a National Art School prize for Sculpture.  Jane was a finalist in the2021  Adelaide Perry Drawing Prize.

A background in commercial photography and film has informed Jane’s interest in layering and light playing on texture in her work.  As part of her sculpture practice she has been using, plaster, steel and concrete, and other manufactured objects to create sculptural forms. Her sculptural work evokes a sense of curiosity and whimsy around the objects. Viewers are invited to engage with Jane’s work by letting their eyes travel over the forms whilst considering the meaning of objects, memories, and the detritus of human existence.

Jane is an inventive and enthusiastic tutor for WWAS, teaching both adult and children’s classes.
