I am an artist, a mother, and a sufferer of anxiety. Where Weeds Grow is exploring, how these differing perspectives or ways of seeing are often hidden behind a curtain, in this case a layer of foliage masking an internalised landscape. I see my printed thicket of weeds growing over this hidden cavern as representing the complex interconnectedness of mothering across generations; from the fun and fierce love it brings, to the inherited vulnerability towards diseases and mental health issues, as well as acknowledging feelings of ambivalence or shame which co-exist with the pride and possessiveness of mothering.
