Inspired by my time In outback Australia visiting and sketching in Central Australia, Fowlers Gap NSW and Scotia Wildlife Sanctuary in NSW
My practice is rooted in a sustained engagement with the natural environment. Encounters with diverse landscapes, often through field trips and direct observation, provide the foundation for my work. These experiences inform both subject matter and approach, allowing me to respond to the specificity of place.
Working predominantly in oil, I am drawn to the medium’s capacity for depth, nuance, and slow layering. Through painting, I aim to convey not only the visual qualities of the natural world but also the sense of immersion and reverence it inspires. My work reflects an ongoing dialogue between observation, memory, and material, driven by a respect for nature and the act of painting itself.
