In March 2020 we were thrust into Covid 19 lockdown. Bondi Beach was a hotspot. We all adapted. I adapted my outback plein air sketching practice toward urban nature; paperbarks on Hall Street, palm trees on Campbell Parade, pandans on the path to Icebergs Pool. I made 100+ sketches observing unfathomable changes to our lifestyles; The beach closed, picnics were not allowed, exercise groups of two maximum, deep-cleans. And in the late autumn sun, on the rocks beside the Bondi to Bronte Coastal Walk, this is where we came to “work from home”.
