My art practice continues its journey of ageing and becoming an ‘invisible woman’
and telling my stories and the stories of the past. To celebrate the ‘invisible women’
to give voice and ‘colour’ by telling these stories. Those small stories that give
meaning and understanding.
Without fanfare or warning, I was still surprised, I had been thrust into this cloistered
group of invisible women.
As a 65-year-old plus woman I belong to this family of women who are invisible in
society, the work force and even the artworld.
‘Unidentified Woman 12’, continues my ‘Invisible Women’ series. I sourced black and
white historical images of women, only recorded as ‘Unidentified Woman. Using the
image as the substrate, I hand-cut windows and collage and place small cutouts of
recycled and discarded papers as tiny stained-glass windows to illuminate these
discarded ‘icons’ to celebrate, reassign, respect and honour
