Small town kids explores archival imagery of my parents from their 20’s, an image I selected as it represents the time I now find myself in. I am interested in the way contemporary painting can reimagine moments from the past, acting to both fragment and solidify our family histories. Large panels of colour intersect to reveal a fractured moment in time. Through the process of painting and re-examining previous lives, I am seeking to explore moments which are both simultaneously strange and familiar to the viewer.
