My Grandfather was a Stablehand by Tara McIntosh
$2,200.00
Size (cm): 92 x 102
Acrylic, pen on hessian, with aluminium frame
I think a painting has an opportunity to grow and age with us and our human existence. In My grandfather was a stablehand I consider material as memory. The physicality of painting supports an active space where the hessian with its unpredictable loose weave and fragility holds traces of gesture and environment; dust, vibration, burn marks, deliberate and accidental. Fragility, held together with an aluminum frame, only with a support structure can we be held together, even when we are falling apart.
