I Consider Eternity by Sally Stokes
oil on canvas | 102 x 102
Walking and drawing the high country in summer, I begin by sitting in the landscape with drawing books, looking, waiting, moving the graphite, ink or gouache around as the place speaks to me about its colour, shapes, mood and immense value for the soul. Joy, endless space, twisted trees, splitting rocks, survival at the top of our world. A time to sit with the mystery. Immersed. It’s a connection to the mysteries of life and part of what it means to be human, that need for ‘soul’ places.
