Much of my work is in the still life genre – it features meat or fish often in composition with other domestic objects which are mostly chosen for their shape or materiality. In this case the shape of a favourite colander and its reflections are used as a juxtaposition to the luscious flesh of the lamb chops. I’m interested in the reflection and refraction of objects and how fragmentation of an image can produce moments of abstraction within an otherwise figurative work.
