In #166, a loose geometry of brushstrokes is held in place by the rigid form of a ceramic frame. The foundations of an imagined building are hinted at by still-visible underpainting. Architecture has been of enduring significance in my practice. The relationship between the painted and pottery elements of my works parallels the way architectural designs are inevitably influenced by their natural and built surroundings.
