This class aims at developing a creative approach to drawing and painting for teenagers. Contemporary and historical art and artists will be used to broaden skill, technique, extend visual language and expand understanding of what drawing and painting can be today.
Concepts will be introduced and revisited to build a fundamental and experimental exploration into the processes of art making. Skills learnt cover observational representation, abstraction, tone and colour theory, spatial complexities, compositional devices, mark making and past and present material and medium use.
Each term has an overall focus. Students have the opportunity to follow set class work or explore individual interests as a research method studio practice. Students are guided in the medium of their choice but are encouraged to broaden their practice.
