Annabel Butler


Annabel Butler holds a BFA Hons (Painting) from the National Art School and studied at the New York Studio School and Byam Shaw Art School in London on scholarships.

A practising artist for over 15 years, she has exhibited widely in Australia and overseas and is represented in Sydney by Stella Downer Fine Art.

Annabel has been awarded artists´ residencies at Bundanon, NSW, the Vermont Studio Center, USA and the Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris.  In 2019 she won the WWAS 9×5 Landscape Prize and has also won the Glebe Open Art Prize (twice) and the Waverley Oil Prize.  Annabel is a regular finalist in numerous other competitions including the Portia Geach Portrait Prize, the NSW Parliament Plein Air Painting Prize, the Calleen Art Award and the Mosman and Paddington Art Prizes.

A passionate teacher, Annabel has been teaching at WWAS since 2014 and at the National Art School since 2016.
